Welcome to LEAPS
LEAPS – the League of European Accelerator-based Photon Sources – is a strategic consortium initiated by the Directors of the Synchrotron Radiation and Free Electron Laser user facilities in Europe. Its primary goal is to actively and constructively ensure and promote the quality and impact of the fundamental, applied and industrial research carried out at their respective facility to the greater benefit of European science and society.
24–29 May 2020 “LEAPS meets Quantum Technology” on Elba, Italy.
This conference shall showcase where today synchrotron radiation contributes to the advancement of quantum technologies. The selected audience of this meeting will profit from quantum technology experts meeting the light source community in an open atmosphere at the spectacular setting on Elba island in central Italy.

As of 1 January 2020 LEAPS has a new chair, former vice-chair Caterina Biscari. The symbolic LEAPS baton was handed over to her by the outgoing chair Helmut Dosch at the General Assembly in November. New vice-chair is Leonid Rivkin, PSI together with Helmut Dosch, DESY.

On this first day of the second LEAPS Plenary, the participants will hear about the LEAPS status and outlook, ExPaNDs and PaNOSC. In the afternoon all the workgroups within LEAPS will meet and discuss future steps.
