The LEAPS initiative has published a new brochure, showcasing the remarkable breakthroughs and projects achieved at European synchrotrons and FELs. On its pages, readers can explore how these facilities unite scientists across many disciplines to tackle grand challenges. Organised under themes such as Energy, Environment, Health, Information Technology and much more, the research outcomes emphasise a strong commitment to providing significant benefits for society.
The brochure highlights that over 107,000 scientific publications in the last decade attest to the global impact of these facilities. In Europe, the LEAPS consortium stands out, bringing together over 30,000 scientists from 93 countries to collaborate at 19 state-of-the-art facilities.
LEAPS’ newly developed European strategy outlines plans for collaboration over the next decade and is mirrored in the brochure. The strategy is designed to maintain Europe’s leadership in developing key technologies for research and innovation. By leveraging the interdisciplinary and multimodal capabilities of accelerator-based photon sources, which drive scientific breakthroughs, alongside the outstanding research conducted by scientists using LEAPS facilities, Europe aspires to address both current and future challenges.
