5th LEAPS Plenary Meeting

The LEAPS 5th Plenary Meeting will be held at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), Switzerland, from 26 to 28 October 2022.

The LEAPS community gets together once a year in its Plenary Meeting to discuss strategic topics relevant to the Consortium and its scientific communities, and reflect on the progress of its initiatives, actions, and projects. The Plenary also creates the opportunity for bringing together the EU Policy, EU Research Infrastructures, and Industry spheres for discussions on creating synergies and cooperating to tackle the most pressing challenges we face as a society. We would like to invite you to participate and contribute to this strategic dialogue.

The agenda of the Plenary Meeting consists of three days:

– Wednesday, October 26 (11:00 – 18:30 CET) is the “internal day” for all LEAPS members. The goal is to create the opportunity for an overview and update on the status and plans for LEAPS and for the LEAPS Strategy and Working Groups members to meet in lively active parallel sessions.

– Thursday, October 27 (09:00 – 16:30 CET) is the “public day” with LEAPS and external members. It will start with a two-hour session where the LEAPS Strategy and Working Groups will have the opportunity to report on their work in a plenary session uniting all LEAPS members. This will be followed by a series of strategic talks with prominent speakers from Policy, Academia, Industry, and the discussion panel “LEAPS and Emerging Challenges“.

– Friday, October 28 (09:00 – 13:00 CET) the GA and CB executive meetings will be held.

The  Public Session will include perspectives from the European Commission, the Swedish Research Council ( linked to the upcoming Swedish EU Presidency), the new LEAPS European Strategy for Accelerator based Photon Sources, and such strategic scientific topics as Quantum Technologies, Life Sciences, and the first results of the upgrade of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF). During the LEAPS internal sessions the progress of current EU-funded projects will be discussed, as well as scientific and policy initiatives, plans for future HE calls, and the strategic work with other EU Research Infrastructure.
